in the Home Garden

Not all bugs in the garden are bad. Insects are needed for pollination and many are predatory on the “bad guys”. Learn how to recognize some of the common pest insects as well as beneficial insects most commonly seen in home gardens.
2:00 – 3:00 pm Use of Chemical and Organic fertilizers

All plants require nutrients to grow and flourish. Nutrients can be supplied using natural organic or synthetic sources. During this session various types of fertilizer products will be discussed. Topics covered will include fertilizer labels, fertilizer use and application rates, and the benefits and disadvantages of both organic and synthetic fertilizers.

in the Home Garden

Many garden center customers are looking for help in solving problems in their gardens. This lecture will cover some of the most common diseases and cultural problems seen in Connecticut gardens and how to prevent and manage them. Selection of control products will also be discussed.
