Located near front entrance of Beach Hall.
- leaves alternate (appear whorled at branch tips), very large (to
2" long), oblong
- leaves dark green, yellow-brown in autumn
- stems thick, little-branched, coarse, greenish
- buds long, smooth, becoming narrow at tip
- flowers very large, white with purplish base
- fruit a cone-like aggregate of seeds, with bright red seeds
- bark smooth and gray
- habit is a small tree with thick, coarse branches
- plant has a very tropical appearance
