Located in back of W.B. Young building by parking lot.
- leaves alternate, broad ovate, "wedge-shaped"
- leaves dark green above, grayish beneath, vivid fall color
- leaves have coarse dentations on the upper half
- young stems have a prominent zig-zag
- foliar buds small, stalked, with two scales
- flower buds larger, rounded, pubescent
- flowers early, white, bottle-brush spikes
- fruit is a capsule produced in a spike
- habit is a medium to large shrub with upright habit.
