Viburnum dilatatum

Located on corner of Wood Hall facing Wilbur Cross.
- leaves opposite, rounded to obovate, with toothed margin
- leaves dark green, reddish in fall
- buds imbricate, brown red, somewhat pubescent
- flower and foliar buds similar
- stems brown, pubescent when young (contrast with the glabrous stems
of V. wrightii)
- flowers white, in flat-topped clusters, profuse, in mid-spring
- flower pedicels somewhat pubescent (contrast with V. wrightii)
- fruit is a oval red drupe, bright red, persistent, becoming withered
in time like a raisin
- fruit is very small for a viburnum
- habit is an upright, multi-stemmed shrub
- plant may become leggy with age
