Located at back entrance of Storrs Cong. Church.
- leaves opposite, ovate to elliptic, acuminate, with fine marginal
serrations, with flattened winged petiole
- leaves glossy green; developing reddish fall color
- flower buds distinctive, long, fat at the base and tapering to an
elongated point, like a "duck bill"
- foliar buds valvate, long, pointed, curved
- stems brown, smooth, rounded
- flowers creamy white, in flat topped clusters, in mid-spring
- fruit is a oval drupe, colored blue-black, often shriveling like
a raisin with age
- habit is a large shrub or small tree with an open habit, usually
multi-stemmed
