Located on side of Wilbur Cross Bldg.
- leaves alternate, simple and unlobed to 6" long
- leaves unusual among campus oaks in being simple
- leaves glossy deep green, reddish in fall
- leaves are often held through winter (brown)
- buds imbricate, sharp-pointed, brown
- stems angled, green-brown, glossy
- fruit an acorn, very small, with reddish cup covering about half
the fruit
- habit is a medium-size tree, pyramidal-upright
- lower branches of tree often droop down (similar to Q. palustris)
