Located next to Rackliffe Hicks arena facing Rt. 195.
- leaves alternate, with 5-7 lobes, lobes have many sharp points
- leaf sinuses (between lobes) are U-shaped
- leaf sinuses extend nearly to the midrib, giving leaf a dissected,
finely textured look
- buds imbricate, sharp-pointed, clustered at stem tip
- stems smooth, slender, green-brown
- bark rather smooth, gray, with shallow furrows with age
- fruit is an acorn, small and rounded, with a thin cup that only
covers very top of fruit
- habit is pyramidal with a strong central leader
- branching pattern is very distinctive: lower branches droop, middle
branches are horizontal and upper branches ascend
