Located on back corner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
- leaves alternate, small, three-lobed, ovate-rhombic
- leaves dark green, with rough teeth
- leaves often have pair of persistent needle-like stipules at base
- buds not seen; indicated by stem swelling
- stems smooth, gray
- flowers present often until frost
- flowers round with prominent central stamens along pistil, color
varies from white, pink and blue
- flowers solitary, often crowded at stem tip
- fruit is a capsule splitting into five parts, persistent
- habit is an upright, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree
- plant looks gaunt and coarse in winter
