Located behind Hall Dorm across from the Benton Museum.
- leaves alternate, ovate-elliptic, generally with a smooth margin
- leaves deep green, with a pointed tip
- buds small, superposed, naked
- stems smooth, green-brown, zig-zag
- flowers are white, pendulous bells in May-June
- fruit are pendulous, rounded, green, resembling buds
- fruit are persistent, turning brown; a good ID feature
- bark smooth, gray, with vertical orange fissures
- habit is a small to medium tree with wide spreading, horizontal
branches
