Located in the Budds Garden by benches.
- leaves opposite, large (to 8" long), ovate to cordate
- leaves deep green, glossy, thick and succulent
- leaves leave a large scar on stems when they fall
- buds imbricate, large, pointed, green to red-brown
- stems light brown, thick, sparsely branches, coarse
- flowers arranged in large, rounded corymbs
- flower clusters composed of large, showy sterile florets and small
fertile flowers
- flower color may range from pink to white to blue
- fruit are capsules; they persist with the dried sterile florets
- habit is a medium multi-stemmed shrub
- form is upright, suckering and coarse in winter
