Located in back of Gulley Hall by president's garden.

  • leaves alternate, trifoliate, blue-green
  • leaflets elliptic, all of same size, to 3" long
  • terminal buds large pointed, covered with white hair
  • stems smooth, olive green
  • flowers yellow, pea-like, in long pendulous racemes
  • fruit is a legume (pod), small, not readily produced
  • bark remains rather smooth and olive with age, developing some fissures
  • habit is a large shrub or small tree, multi-stemmed usually but can be a single-stem tree
  • plant may become leggy with age
