Located in Geology Park by side of Hawley Armory and old co-op.

  • needles arranged 2 per fascicle, shortest needles of any pine covered in course
  • needles stiff and curved, medium green, pointed
  • buds oval, small, covered with sticky resin
  • stems green to brown, ridged
  • cones short (to 2" long), rounded, short-stalked, gray-black
  • habit is variable, often a medium size dense, multi-stemmed shrub, but may also be a large shrub or small tree
  • plant is usually multi-stemmed; cultivars abound that are small and dense in stature (most common)
