  • needles borne densely along branches
  • needles attach to persistent pegs on branches
  • habit dense, multi-stemmed, shrub-like
  • habit rounded; a small to medium shrub, no distinct leader, branches layered or somewhat erect
  • cones rarely produced
  • ultimate size may vary; the name 'Pumila' is applied to various cultivars with similar, though slightly different habits
