- needles short, .25"-.75", deep green above and lighter
beneath
- needle tips rounded, margins smooth
- needles radiate in different directions, not strictly two-ranked
like T. canadensis.
- branching pattern not as regular as T. canadensis
- cones 1"-1.5", very open scales, different than T.
canadensis
- mature size smaller than T. canadensis
- stems often have cottony white material at base of needles, from
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid insect
