Located on side of Benton Art Museum across from Hall dormitory.
- needles 2"-5" long, dark green and glossy
- needles grooved above and below (2 needles fused together)
- needles clustered in whorls at nodes along stem
- form dense and pyramidal, slightly more open with age
- cones 2"-4" long, half as wide
- cones woody when mature with thick, "chunky" scales
- male cones visible in winter clustered at branch tips
- bark orange/brown, peeling in vertical strips, often hidden
