Located in center of pharmacy garden.
- leaves evergreen, compound pinnate, spiny-margined
- leaves deep green in summer, purplish in winter
- buds alternate; terminal large with green scales, laterals small
- flowers yellow, in early spring, terminal clusters
- habit upright, multi-branched shrub
- stems have little twiggy growth
- fruit blue, in clusters, like "grapes"
- plant resembles a holly superficially (but leaves are pinnate)
