- buds small, brown, pubescent, loose scales
- stems smooth, light brown
- fruits is a raceme of brown capsules
- fruit very persistent, turning gray with age
- flowers white, very fragrant in summer
- habit upright, multi-stemmed, to 8'
- habit suckering with age
