  • fruit a red berry, hanging on long stalk (1"-2")
  • flowers white, in spring, inconspicuous
  • habit large multi-stemmed shrub or small tree (to 25')
  • form may resemble thick-trunked tree with age
  • form often irregular and shrubby when young
