The Larches

Pyramidal deciduous-leaved cone-bearing trees; twigs with resinous taste; rapidly-growing shoots have numerous scattered strongly decurrent leaf-scars with single bundle-scars; leaves borne on short stout wart-like branchlets (peg-like protuberances) along the branches, with densely clustered leaf-scars abundant. One of the few genera of deciduous coniferous plants.
